Garnier Micellar Water | Review

For the longest time I saw bloggers from Australia & the UK talk and rave about Garnier's new Micellar Water. I had to have it, but did not want to pay a ridiculous amount for shipping, until I saw it sitting all by itself on a shelf in Walmart one day, just calling my name. So yes I bought it, and YAY! Finally it made it's way to Canadian and American shelves!

This is an All-In-1 cleansing water that removes makeup and cleanses the face. They claim to be for all skin types, and you can buy the pink one for removing normal makeup, or there is a blue packaging that removes waterproof makeup. I don't typically wear water-proof makeup, and thought it would be a lot of harsh on my skin, therefore I didn't buy it and haven't tried it so I can't speak for the blue bottle. But I love this pink one that has been added to my morning and night time routine. Before cleansing with a face wash, I drench a cotton pad in the micellar water, and just lightly rub it all over my face to remove any makeup or dirt off my face.

My skin type is combination, which means I have dry patches some paces, and oil in my T-zone. I also can have very sensitive skin, so using this to remove my makeup first means I can use a less harsh exfoliator/face wash afterwards to cleanse. I have also found my pores have become less visible in appearance as I'm doing this extra cleansing step.

This cleansing water is very affordable at only $9.00 (CAD) a bottle!! I find it is extremely effective at doing what it says it does, and it's definitely now a staple in my morning and evening routines. Thank you Garnier!!!

Let me know what you think of this product, and if you have tried the waterproof makeup version, how that works as well!

Top 5 Spring Drugstore Lip Colours

Before I get started, I didn't realise that the 5 colours I had chosen were all NYX Cosmetics lip colours, I guess they really are my favourite brand for lipsticks/lip glosses. Their formula's are so impressive, and  their colour selection are right up my alley. I am all about the pink undertones, anything else makes me look pale or my teeth yellow. Luckily for me pinks are perfect for spring!

The two Soft Matte Lip Creams are such opaque colours, smelling like vanilla cake, and are so soft and moisturising to the lips even though they are matte. Prague is a beautiful deep plum colour, which is a colour I will not get sick of. Istanbul is a very earthy light pink. Very nice for a day look that I'd pair with a gold smokey eye. Their butter glosses are sticky when first applied, however are very creamy once dried to the lips. Cherry Cheesecake is the perfect coral colour for my skin tone, and I absolutely love putting it on when I can't be bothered with lip colours. It is such an easy re-application since it is a gloss. The newest addition to my makeup collection is the Liquid Suede Cream in Vintage, which is amazing! It's very retro '90's and even though it is a suede, it has a gorgeous sheen when applied. It feels so velvety on lips, and I can't wait to wear this for a night-time look. And finally the Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink is making another appearance on my blog for obvious reasons. It is such a vibrant and dramatic pink, but the lasting power of this is out of this world. Every time I wear this colour I get so many compliments, and it's perfect for those special occasions where you want a pop of colour.

Please let me know what your favourite drugstore lipsticks for Spring are.

One Direction: Between Us Perfume | Review

Yes, I am a huge 1D fan, and yes I own all of their perfumes. And no I'm not ashamed, because they are so devine! They bought out a new one called Between Us, I believe it was last August, but I didn't get my hands on it until Christmas time (so I'm very sorry for the late review on it). I firstly want to start with the packaging. Compared to their other fragrances, this one stands out from the rest. The perfume liquid itself is a beautiful warm gold colour, which beautifully accents the gold spray and clear, almost diamond-like lid. The shower gel and body lotions are very minimalistic with the packaging, but still gets a yes from me! They're simple tubes with the gold accents again running through, with black banners to make it stand out from the white. It is very simplistic and modern, unlike their others which are bright pink and very girly. This accentuates into the smell as well.

Unlike the others, Between Us is a very "grown-up" scent, with it's natural scents along side sweet notes. It literally smells like a rain-forest full of pretty flowers (if there was such a thing right!). They say that the high notes are mandarin and apricot with jasmine and patchouli, with a hint of vanilla and amber - all are very prominent and easy to distinguish once you know what you're smelling. They work together so well in providing us with this beautifully packaged perfume, which I for sure will be buying time and time again during the Summer-Spring months!

The Blushed Nudes | Review

If you're like me and can't neccessarily afford Urban Decay or Mac or Nars, or just can't justify splurging $40 on an eyeshadow palette, then keep reading. I get so excited when it comes to new makeup, especially eyeshadows and lipsticks! Everyday I wish I could go into Sephora and just spend 100's of dollars, but I just can't. So for you girls like me, our next best option is the drug store, which by the way, is not at all that bad when you find hidden treasures like The Blushed Nudes palette by Maybelline. For $12, it is an amazing, compact, universal palette. I currently own The Nudes palette which is full of matte and shimmery browns, golds and nudes, which I absolutely fell in love with. Although the colour pay-off may not be as good as those higher end brands, they are buildable, and lets face it - no matter what palette you buy you'll always have your favourites that you use all the time.

As soon as I saw The Blushed Nudes sitting on my local drugstore shelves I instantly grabbed it and put it in my basket. There are 12 shades all up, that are split into quads, trios or couples, each containing a matte and shimmer shadow. I have brown eyes, and find that adding a little colour (besides the typical browns I tend to reach for) that the pinks and purples in this compact little palette would be right up my alley. I'm not the type to go all out with her makeup, but a little pop of colour on the lids are just what I needed to add to my collection. I find that there are colours in this palette that aren't very opaque, and therefore don't really do much justice to your eyeshadow looks. But I  already have my favourites, and by the swatches you'll see below (which I will do in the suggested quads), you'll see what I'm talking about with the colour payoff's.

The first quad is beautiful. This I would wear during the day if I had somewhere to be and could be bothered doing this much makeup (usually I stick to one or two colours), because the colours aren't very intense and they're very wearable. The first colour you would sweep all over your lid, and up to your brow bone. It's a gorgeous light colour, not quite a white since the colour payoff is very minimal, but it leave a shimmer to your lids, which makes it a perfect base to this colour combination. The second colour is like a very baby/dusty pinky-peach colour. The colour is a little more opaque than the first, but isn't full on. I'd shade this all over my lid. The third colour is more of a rose-gold colour, which would go in the outer-corner of the lid and crease to add defintion to the eye. Again it's a very shimmery colour, and the colour payoff is absolutely amazing! The fourth and final colour of this quad is a dark matte brown, which I personally would use instead of an eyeliner. I would use a small angled brush to pop this on my eyelash line, and blend it a little bit to make it more smokey.

The second quad is honestly my least favourite. I love the colours by themselves but I would not use them together. To me, they just don't really complement each other. The first colour is a very light grey shimmer colour, which they say to use over your lid area. The second colour is a very pretty matte light pink, which they say to dust all over your eyelid area. I personally do not think these two colours go together. On their own with the last two colours, yes. The last two are very pretty browns, not much shimmer to them, but they are pretty to use in the crease and to line the eyes.

Last but not least, is the third quad, which I am so in love with! The first colour I sweep all over my eye area, not up to my brow bone though, just to wear you'd want the colour to swap - think of it as the base and blending shade you'd use. The second colour I use in the crease, as its a very pretty shimmery rosey-brown. And to complement that colour, the third colour I use as the lid colour. It's such a beautiful dusty-purple/pink colour, and it's probably my favourite colour in this whole palette! The last one is not so much a black, but it's a very dark purple shade, with a little shimmer to blend into the eyelash line. The colour payoff in this quad is amazing. I'm so in love!! Perfect for night time, with all the shimmery goodness!!

What colours do you tend to reach for in your makeup bag, and what are your favourite brands for eyeshadows?

My November Faves

It's nearly the end of November, and since December is always so busy, I thought I'd do my favourites post (which is so long overdue).

Candles

Bath and Body Works Candles basically speak for themselves. They're a cheaper alternative to Yankee Candle, and honestly I prefer B&B Works candles over Yankee's anyway. I am currently burning "Leaves" and "Frosted Cranberry." Leaves is very much an autumnal scent, which literally smells like foliage, apples & spices - I meant there is nothing really more you could ask for in an autumn candle. Frosted Cranberry is obviously more of a Christmas scent, which honestly smells like a sweet mulled wine sitting on your stove. Both of these candles will be a re-purchase!

Skin Care

Recently I've been really unhappy with my skin. My pores are so large that I'm starting to become very self-conscious about them, and my face is starting to breakout in acne. I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden. It might be the change in weather, or the change in skin care, not enough skin care, but it's definitely not lifestyle. I just can't put my finger on it and it's really bothering me. Recently I purchased Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser & some of their pore strips. I love the way the cleanser feels on my skin - it makes my face feel so much more brighter and cleaner and vibrant, and the pore strips are just a must have in everyone's skin care routine once in a while for a deep cleanse. I have noticed a change as of yet, but I definitely feel like it's working compared to some other drug store cleansers.

Mousse

During the colder months, I don't necessarily like to style my hair with hot tools too often as the air is dry enough. Therefore I like to use my new Tresemme Perfectly Undone Wave Creation Seafoam. I like to apply it damp in my hair and just scrunch it in. I naturally have wavy-curly hair, so it just adds a bit more volume and tames the frizz.

Baby Oil

Do this. Trust me, you'll love how soft your skin is in just a few days! I like to apply this to my damp arms and legs after showering, then pat myself dry with my towel. I have found that my skin is so soft, and so moisturised! YAY

Lip Colour

Kate Moss 107 for those red-lipped days, and NYX Soft Cream Matte in Istanbul for all the other days. I just love them.

Pandora Rings

Pandora has the most beautiful ring collection, and I own six in total. They're so dainty, and so wearable everyday. I like to wear mine by themselves, and stacked. You can mix and match them. Now can you see why they're amazing?

Plaid Shirt

Okay so I only own the own, at the moment, because everyone's wearing them I didn't want to be caught in that phase too. But I finally brought one, and I cannot wear anything else. It is so comfortable, and it goes with everything. It's so soft and the colour is perfect for my skin and hair colour. I like to wear it with leggings, long cardigan, and booties for a comfort/casual day.

Ankle Booties

Ankle boots are just the best things ever. They're super comfortable, and they dress any outfit up. Mine are from payless, and they're just super soft and comfortable. They're black, with a buckle detail on the side, with a little chunky heel. I love to just slide them on with almost every outfit lately. Definitely a must-have for me, and I want more!

Music

One Direction - Made in the A.M. - This album goes without saying...
Justin Bieber - Purpose - So does this one...
Adele - Hello - She's back!!!!! Hello Adele!!!
Conor Maynard - YouTube him right now if you've never heard his angel-like voice before. I used to listen to him years ago, but recently came across him again, and now I just can't stop listening.

Healthy Snack

Recently I've been obsessed with Craisins. Dried cranberries are so delicious and healthy and so winter-like. They're gluten free, and 1/4 cup counts as one serving of fruit. Bonus!!!

What are your current favourites? What music have you been listening too? And what would you suggest for skincare during the cooler months?

But this is basically my new favourite go-to makeup look: very golden eyes, a little darker pink lip, big lashes & curly hair. I don't think I suit deep reds and deep purples on the lips, but I haven't brought every kind yet, so give me some time to figure out which ones compliment my colours first then there'll be a bit more variety to my looks.

Today I wanted to experiment with my face makeup and eyes. Most of my makeup looks are very similar, but do slightly change from each post with the products I use and how I decide to use them.

On a side note - I get very dry skin and lips from time to time and today was once of those days. So sorry for the dry lips :( I also had just straightened my hair so there were wispy bits all over my face :( life problems right?

Zoella Beauty Tutti Frutti Range | Review

I have been eyeing the Zoella Beauty product bath range ever since the first one came out last year, but I never purchased it. Then this new "Tutti Frutti" inspired range came out and I really wanted to spend the money. Even though it's inexpensive, you're still buying bath products online that you can't smell and it might just be me, but I love to smell what I'm buying before I buy it. Anyway long story short, I filled up my basket with the products I thought I'd get the most pleasure out of, went to checkout to get the Canadian price, and I guess I clicked confirm, and boom I bought the products without even realising. However it was the best mistake I've ever made. This range smells insane!!! And the packaging is so summery and fun!

I bought the Bath Fizzer, Shower Gel, and the Body Scrub. Well done Zoella!!!

This smells amazing. It seriously smells like a dessert. It's split up into four quadrants, that you split off and pop under warm running water in your bath. It doesn't add any colour to your bath (because it's white haha) however you can hear it fizzing in the water if you listen carefully which I find so cool! It takes maybe 3-4 minutes to fully fizz, and it creates the best smelling bath ever! I stepped out of the water feeling so clean and fresh and fragranced, which is what every girl wants in a bath. The packaging is adorable! It reminds me of a Willy Wonka Chocolate Bar. It's a blue packaging, with bright pink polka dots and lace detailing and a cute logo. It literally had a "Do Not Eat" sticker because it looks so much like a chocolate bar! Smells better than a chocolate bar, but I doubt it tastes better. Just makes me want to sit in the fizzed bath eating tasty treats and blasting Ariana Grande.

Very similar packaging to the bath fizzer, with the blue packaging and bring pink logo - just a few slight changes. The smell of this shower gel is a lot more sweeter and refreshing than the bath fizz, but again, a very similar scent. It's a beautiful pearly-pink colour, and it leaves the skin smelling amazing for hours! I cannot wait to lather my body up with this in the shower every day. It's in an easy-to-squeeze 205mL bottle, so very easy to use in the shower :) YUM!

Okay let's start by saying HOW CUTE IS THIS PACKAGING?! Yellow is my favourite "summer" colour, and the fact that Zoe has incorporated it with the famous bright pink logo and large polka dots, it's beyond my expectations of a bath product. I can't wait to just have this sitting in my shower! The scent is not as strong as the shower gel and bath fizzer, however I can only imagine how nice this is going to make me feel after using it. It's an exfoliant scrub, so yipeee it smells amazing! On the back of the packaging it claims to be enriched with acai and blueberries, and conditioned with cocoa butter. She decided to use a sugar scrub rather than salt, due to sugar being more delicate for the skin, and this allows people with sensitive to hopefully be able to use it. It left my skin feeling so soft and smooth, and smelling delicious!

I absolutely love these products so far and plan to get the rest of the range very soon! I love also that Zoella uses these herself. She looks after her skin, and that proves that these are amazing. This collection is very summery, feminine, and fun! Thankyou Zoe!!!!

What are your favourite products from Zoella's beauty range?
